Trax
A downloadable game for Windows
Select your car and attach saws, spikes and other deadly attire before you battle to the death in one of several deadly areas in this 4-player melee.
Trax is a conversion of my Amiga game Burnout and was my first 3D polygon based game, created in the year 2000. It was briefly sold on CD-ROM bundled with Roton and Martian Rover Patrol.
The game was developed for Windows XP-era machines running DirectX 7, but seems to work well enough on my 2024-era Windows 11 machine. This version of Trax, circa year 2000, is provided to play for free 'as is'.
Many aspects of the game, from graphics and controller input, to the gameplay itself, would benefit from an upgrade. I may update and remaster the game one day, but this is a big job.

This is a fantastic game! I found the CD release bundled with the other two games at a bookstore about 15 years ago. I believe this is actually the first "robot combat" video game as back in 2000 neither Robot Wars nor BattleBots were established enough to have etched any deals with publishers for a licensed game yet.
Thanks! Yes, it was before I'd heard of Robot Wars for certain. It was based on my Amiga game Burnout. The other two games were Martian Rover Patrol and Roton, both here in newly remastered versions. I'm less likely to remaster Trax, for the time being. I could probably have built upon the idea. I wasn't paid for that CD release (or about 20 box art designs I did for them - bah!)
